I like this update, I have plenty more materials than the storage can hold but hey- it's more space nonetheless.

I'm first then.
It would have been frickin' nice of Anet to at least mention that in the game updates. I hate feeling like I've been cheated. Yeah, I know it's only 50g, but to me, it's the principle of the thing. I thought you paid once to unlock it for your account, so I paid from my ele who doesn't carry any materials, then logged in to my mule and was faced with the Xunlai agent asking for more money. Felt like telling her to get a real job! Blasted beggars. lmao

I'm happy. My storage box is pretty empty now, since all the non-full crafting material stacks were filling it. Now I gotta figure out what I want to store in all that shiny space I got.

I'm generally happy with the storage update. I tend to keep all the materials I collect/salvage, as they're always useful to someone. That said, it's freed up a lot of space for my characters--but not as much as I would have liked. As I'm sure has been stated already, I would have preferred a set number of spaces in which to store ANY material (even in only stacks of up to 250) rather than one space allocated for each separate material. I'm never going to be carrying around 250 glass vials, but 1,000 tanned hide squares, or iron ingots, or cloth, can be necessary for many kinds of armour. Those 0 Glass Vials, 0 Vials of Ink, 0 Rubies etc could have been holding my 750 planks of wood right now, heh. Guess it's time to turn some of that into parchment...
Still, *some* freed storage is preferable to none, so I'm happy in that respect. The (possibly?) best part of this is that I can stop flipping through my characters to move materials around.
I'm actually against having vast amounts of general storage available. With 6 characters available (through Factions), all bags maxed out, that's quite a bit of space already. I find it a little funny that people go out and buy a second account to increase that storage, heh. But I don't play GW to collect every single green item out there, or craft every single piece of armour. *shrug* "Gotta catch 'em all" doesn't do it for me.
Anyhoo, thanks Anet

I suppose this update is better than nothing. Atleast Anet is attempting to do something about the storage problem. However, I do hope in the future that they come up with a more plausible storage solution.

Is there a charge for the Materials Vault? Will the Xunlai Agent ask for another fee?
There is no additional cost for storage in either real-world or game world currency.
???
I don't care about 50g, but why say one thing and do another thing...?

Excellent question. Should have been mentioned in the update notes.

Well, I appreciate the extra storage even if others don't. It really helped free a ton of space for me.

Most people appriciate it, but I agree about the cost thing. I wouldn't have minded if the website hadn't mentioned a cost, and then there was one, but it specifically said their WOULDN'T be a cost, and now there is :/
It won't help me much anyway, maybe just one or two slots. Most of my storage is full of Absinthe + Eggnogg

My Monk will now be able to walk about a bit easier now, not having to worry about carrying all my materials lol.
Anet are crafty making this a factions only thing.
If you want it with prof you need to buy factions and merge your accounts with only give you 6 slots for 8 classes. Anet makes money.
If you want 1 slot for each class and have the storage feature you will then have to buy 2 additional slots. Anet makes more money.
Anet, why don't you just tell us what your planning, it's not like we can't see through your oh so feeble attempt to get more money from us.

Has anyone thought how this may or may not affect the price of materials at the traders?
Obviously with most players having space to store materials, less materials will be sold to the merchant.. but also less people will be buying?. Will the effects cancel each other out? Will the price still rise though as Tyrian only characters will not have this extra space?
Just wondering..

Looking at the picture of the materials storage, how (and why) would Anet even implement an armor or weapons tab? This tab was meant specifically to hold things that stack together. At this point you're just asking for more storage space, but a dye, key, scroll, and possibly a holiday items tab (pretty much anything that stacks together that you can think of) could be easily done.

As has been said MANY times before: Anet needs to make money like this, because they have NO monthly fees. What's wrong with that? I think they're doing well.
But I totally agree that the storage should have been added to ALL players, with or without Factions, because it is NOT considered to be content, for which it's logical to have to pay.
They've been unclear on things, and now people are disappointed. also been clarified lots of times here.
Just hope Anet has learned from this, or they are gonna lose more players.

I have factions - I am not seeing the new storage tab
Edit: Nevermind - didn't realize I had to talk to someone other than my normal storage agent.

Managed to free up some space, my poor old mesmer was becoming a pack horse with materials.
I'd like to see the 250 limit removed from the materials storage though, so you can merge multiple stacks of materials into one spot e.g. if you have 4+ stacks of wood or iron (not uncommon if you salvage most drops) you can put the whole lot into storage instead of just one stack.
It could be done in such a way that you can only withdraw stacks of 250 (maximum) but deposit more than 250. This gets around having multiple stacks of the same material on a character.
The event items tab should really also be added because if you're a collector (and just have one of each) it soon adds up. Especially if you get hats for each other character too.
edit: in fact, why is there even a 250 limit to begin with? Why not just scrap that limit...
